I had the same problem...two QuickBooks files that I needed to consolidate. After calling numerous accountants and Intuit help line, I was repeatedly assured that this was impossible. Then I stumbled on these products:

I needed reports immediately, so I bought the Report Combiner, on Easter Sunday, no less. I had my user ID instantly, and within less than ten minutes I had the reports in my hand. The software is easy to use, and very accurate. And at $129, it is a bargain, especially as I probably had a few weeks of typing to do otherwise. I am going to buy the Data Transfer Utility and see if it actually transfers the whole file, but for reporting purposes, the "Report Combiner" worked great.
